Do I have to pay a fee?

Course fees:

The WEA receives public funding from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for the majority of its courses and this funding supplements the course fees paid by students and sponsors. For most of our courses, this funding is only available for people who are 19 or over – those born before 31st August 1996.

For SFA funded courses you are entitled to FREE tution if you are in receipt of certain benefits:

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (income or contribution based)
  • Income Support
  • Employment and Support Allowance (income-related)
  • Working Tax Credit with a household income below £15,276 a year
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit (but not Coucil Tax discounts)
  • Pension Guarantee Credit (if you have an award notice)
  • If you are an unwaged dependant (as defined by the Job Centre Plus) of someone who receives the benefits listed you will not pay a fee
  • Some skills for life courses may be free of charge

We ask you to either  a)  submit evidence of your benefit with your postal enrolment form or b)  bring evidence to the first class.

For students who are required to pay a fee for their courses, fees are shown against the details of each course.

If you have any queries please telephone 01522 522472

In addition to this, there are some funds to help with course fees for those who are not on an income-related benefit but have a low household income (usually below £15,276 per year). This help is limited to three courses a year.

OUR COURSE FEES HAVE BEEN FROZEN FOR THE 2015-16 ACADEMIC YEAR.

However please be aware that the 10% dicount for attending multple courses is no longer available.
